Immigration - our tips for you

  • It is important to understand your Visa options before entering New Zealand so that you can make the most of your stay – without legal repercussions.

  • If you are not on the skills shortage lists your employer will need to do a labour market assessment of your job - that will mean the position needs to be advertised.

  • If your relationship ends while you are on a partnership Visa, it does not automatically end and you may be entitled to apply for a temporary Visa or perhaps even residence.

  • A temporary Visa waiver is possible for certain countries - that means residents from those countries (as long as they meet our character requirements) can get immediate entry on arrival.

  • If you have the means to start a high value business in New Zealand which will employ New Zealanders you may be eligible for a work and residents Visa to operate your business.
