LAW

I work alongside Susie and Claire practicing family and employment law. I understand how daunting it can be coming to see a lawyer for the first time particularly when it involves the care of children, an employment dispute or the end of a relationship. I am friendly and approachable and feel passionate about explaining the legal process in a clear and concise way so my clients have a clear expectation of what will happen moving forward and what their options are.

Family Law

  • Care and contact arrangements for children
  • Parenting Orders
  • Guardianship disputes
  • Orders preventing removal of children from Canterbury/New Zealand
  • Relocation disputes
  • Paternity
  • Family Violence (Protection Orders)
  • Relationship Property – contracting out and division of relationship property agreements
  • Dissolution of marriage
  • Oranga Tamariki matters
  • Appearances in the Family Court

 Employment Law

  • Personal grievances
  • Mediations
  • Employment Relations Authority investigation meetings
  • Restructuring/redundancies
  • Disciplinary issues
  • Employment Agreements

EDUCATION

BA/LLB, University of Otago, Faculty of Law

I believe that quality advice is something that should be constantly learned and improved so in just the last 12 months I have attended these seminars:

  • Family Law Evidence and Advocacy Masterclass
  • Employment Law Series 2021
  • Covid-19 vaccination from a health/science perspective
  • Managing Medical Incapacity, Bullying and Harassment
  • Relationship Property Report 2021

EXPERIENCE

I completed my law degree and arts degree at the University of Otago in 2015 and worked for a year in a general practice firm before moving to Christchurch in 2017. For the past three years I have practiced family and employment law primarily for legal aid clients. I joined Layburn Hodgins in 2020 and am looking forward to assisting clients with these important and emotional matters.
