LAW
I work alongside Susie, Claire and Hannah practising family and employment law. Engaging a lawyer to help with care of children, the end of a relationship or a dispute at work might be something many people never thought they would have to do. I understand that these areas are often extremely personal and sensitive. I have a friendly and compassionate nature, and try my hardest to make clients feel comfortable talking to me. I am also a good communicator and will provide you with clear advice on your initial options, and what the process is moving forward – without all the legal jargon.
Having recently switched legal specialities from commercial law, I am passionate about the following areas of law:
Family Law
- Care and contact arrangements for children
- Parenting Orders
- Guardianship disputes
- Orders preventing removal of children from Canterbury/New Zealand
- Relocation disputes
- Paternity
- Family violence (Protection Orders)
- Relationship property – contracting out and division of relationship property agreements
- Dissolution of marriage
- Contracting Out Agreements
Employment Law
- Reviewing and drafting employment agreements
- Personal grievances
- Mediations
- Employment Relations Authority investigation meetings
- Restructuring/redundancies
- Disciplinary issues
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Laws (LLB), University of Otago
Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA), University of Otago
I believe that quality advice is something that should be constantly learned and improved so in just the last 12 months I have attended these seminars:
- Te Reo Māori - Level 1
- Conflicts of Interest
I have also been learning Spanish for 10 years.
EXPERIENCE
I joined the Layburn Hodgins team in 2022. Prior to this, I gained extensive experience in commercial property and corporate law at a New Zealand project law firm. While at University, I volunteered at Community Law Otago where I gained experience in a large variety of legal matters – primarily family law.
