LAW

I practice property, commercial, and private client law. Many are daunted by the idea of having to engage a lawyer to purchase a first home or business, incorporate a Company, enter into a tenancy or commercial lease, or draft terms of trade to protect their business. I am often the first point of contact for some of our less experienced clients and I try to simplify the legal process.  Law really doesn’t have to be as complicated as some firms make it out to be.   I also enjoy working alongside our senior clients who are making those vital decisions to purchase into a Retirement Village, are making or updating a Will, or to help them with appointing attorneys to ensure their property and personal affairs are securely managed.

Trust me to provide you with full advice and clear options to assist you to achieve your goals.

EDUCATION

LLB, University of Canterbury, Faculty of Law
BA, University of Canterbury, Faculty of Arts

Law is changing constantly and continuous study is the only way to provide current advice, so in just the last 12 months I have studied:

  • The New Building Act and General LIM Information
  • Gifts and Loans
  • Minimising Complexity and Risk in Property Transactions
  • Managing Retail and Commercial Leases
  • Subdivisions Update, Practice and Procedure
  • Practicing Professionally in the Pandemic
  • Winding Up a Trust
  • Cross Leases

EXPERIENCE

I joined John’s team at Layburn Hodgins soon after I began practicing Law in 2009. I am widely travelled and active in my local community so I understand that families can struggle to find good, clear advice and that is why I volunteer at Community Law Canterbury.
